This Privacy Policy explains what information Dave's Place collects when you use davesplace.shop or place a pickup order through it, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It applies to the website. It does not govern information you give us in person at the diner, though we treat that information with the same care.

Who we are

What we collect
When you place a pickup order
We collect the name, phone number, pickup time, and any special requests you type into the order form. We also record the itemized list of what you ordered, the total, the date and time the order was submitted, and the IP address of the device that submitted it. The IP address is kept for fraud prevention and to help resolve disputes about orders.
When you subscribe to our mailing list
We collect the email address you submit, the date you subscribed, and the IP address at the time of subscription.
When you use the contact form
We collect your name, your email address, and the message you write. That's all.
When you browse the site
Your browser stores the contents of your cart and your cookie-consent preference in local browser storage. This data stays in your browser — it is not transmitted to us until you submit an order. See the Cookie Policy for details.
What we don't collect
We do not collect payment information on the site. We do not have customer accounts, and there is no login. We do not ask for your home address, date of birth, government ID, or any financial account number. We do not use analytics services, advertising pixels, or behavioral tracking scripts.
How we use it
Order information is used to prepare your food, to contact you by phone if something is wrong with the order, to keep the business record for tax and accounting purposes, and to resolve disputes. Newsletter email addresses — if you subscribed — are used to send occasional updates about specials and hours. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or by contacting us directly. Contact-form messages are used only to reply to you.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for at least two years so we can reconcile them against our accounting records and respond to payment disputes. Contact-form messages are kept for one year. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. IP addresses attached to orders are kept with the order record.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site and process orders — specifically our web host and our email provider. Those providers are bound by their own contracts to protect the information and use it only to provide services to us. If we are legally required to disclose information (for example, in response to a valid subpoena or a lawful request from law enforcement), we will do so to the extent required by law.
Cookies and browser storage
The site uses local browser storage — not traditional cookies for most functions — to remember your cart between pages and to remember whether you've dismissed the cookie banner. For full details, see our Cookie Policy. If you clear your browser storage, your cart will be empty next time you visit. That's expected.
Google Maps
The Contact page embeds a map from Google. When the map loads, Google may collect your IP address and set cookies of its own. That collection happens on Google's side, under Google's privacy policy — we don't control it and don't receive the data.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Order data is stored on our server in files that are not publicly accessible. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and to keep the data collection to the minimum needed to run the business.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
You can email [email protected] to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to keep certain records for legal or accounting purposes, and we'll tell you if that applies.
If you are a California resident, you have the rights described in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): to know what categories of personal information we collect and how we use it, to request a copy of that information, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold any in the preceding 12 months.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
